The Legend of Westex Skysports: Born in '84

In the summer of 1984, while the rest of the world was looking at the ground, my father and his best friend were looking at the horizon.

The story of Westex Skysports didn’t start in a boardroom or a shiny hangar. It started in the dusty backlot of a West Texas airfield, fueled by a single-engine Cessna, a crate of round-canopy parachutes, and a vision that the sky shouldn’t be reserved for the birds.

The Leap of Faith

In those days, skydiving wasn't a commercial "experience"—it was a brotherhood of the bold. My father saw something others didn't: he saw that the adrenaline of the fall was only matched by the peace of the flight. With nothing but his passion, a few stitched-together rigs, and a relentless Texas work ethic, he founded Westex Skysports with his best friend.

He didn’t just build a business; he built a portal. He turned a patch of dirt into a place where ordinary people could leave their gravity-bound worries behind and become something more.

A Legacy in the Air

From the very first lift-off in '84, Westex became synonymous with the "Westex Way":

  • Precision: Because in the air, inches matter.

  • Grit: Forging a path through four decades of changing winds.

  • Family: Treating every jumper—from the nervous first-timer to the seasoned pro—as part of the Westex bloodline.

For over 40 years, the engines have hummed, the chutes have blossomed, and the legacy has grown. Today, Westex Skysports isn't just a place to jump; it’s a living testament to a man who decided that "the limit" was just a starting point.
